Affiliate disclosure

Here's exactly how Eco Warrior Tips makes money and what that means for you.

The short version

We participate in affiliate programs — most notably Amazon Associates, plus direct programs with brands like Tushy, LARQ, Grove Collaborative, and others. When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase, we earn a small commission. Your price doesn't change.

Amazon Associates

Eco Warrior Tips is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Direct brand partnerships

Some of our product recommendations link directly to manufacturer websites rather than Amazon. These are typically managed through affiliate networks like Impact, ShareASale, or Commission Junction. We receive a commission on qualifying sales made through these links at no additional cost to you.

Our editorial rules

To keep our recommendations honest, we follow these rules:

  • Calculator math is never influenced by affiliate payouts. The assumptions behind every calculator are based on independent research — EPA data, peer-reviewed studies, manufacturer specs, and industry consensus figures. We use conservative assumptions, not optimistic ones.
  • We don't accept paid placements. A brand can't pay us to be featured in our recommendations. If a product is on the site, it's because we think it's a good option in its category.
  • We tell you when not to buy. Our calculators will clearly show a negative 5-year savings number when a switch doesn't pay off for your household. We'd rather you trust us than make a one-time commission.
  • We disclose on every page. Every calculator page has a disclosure note before the product recommendations. Every product link uses rel="sponsored nofollow" per Google's guidelines.

How recommendations are chosen

For each calculator, we select products based on a simple hierarchy:

  1. Widely considered the best in their category by independent reviewers and long-term owners
  2. Available at multiple price points so there's a recommendation for different budgets
  3. Available through affiliate programs (this rules out some great products, honestly — we note those in our articles)

Questions or concerns

If you think a recommendation is off or an assumption is biased, please email us. We take this seriously.
